What is NaDCC?
Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) is a form of sodium salt that can be used as a source of Free Available Chlorine (FAC). NaDCC is recommended as chemical microbicidal agent for disinfection and sterilization. How does NaDCC work?
Once NaDCC tablet is dissolved in water, it produces free available chlorine (FAC) in form of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) which acts as oxidizing agent. FAC is a strong and effective agent that can work against a wide range of microbes such as algae, bacteria, spores, fungi and viruses4. The active ingredient that contains microbicidal effect is hypochlorous acid. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is four times stronger in killing microbes than hypochlorite (bleach). Since hypochlorous acid (HOCl) has a similar molecular make up as water, it can penetrate the cell wall of bacteria and viruses faster than bleach.
